A group of citizens has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to engage in dialogue with students who have been on a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in Delhi since June 28.

The protest, led by the political campaign Cockroach Janta Party, demands the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan due to alleged mismanagement of competitive exams.

Activist Sonam Wangchuk, who joined the strike, was forcibly taken to hospital by Delhi Police on Saturday, sparking criticism that the government ignored his plight and continued to disregard the students' demands.

The letter accused authorities of treating the protesters with 'callous disregard,' warning that any harm to participants would hold the government accountable.Signatories included economists, activists, and journalists.

Meanwhile, Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke began an indefinite hunger strike, calling for nationwide peaceful protests against what he termed a 'dictatorship.' The protest highlights tensions between student activism and governmental authority in addressing educational grievances.
