Suzana Magufuli, the 94-year-old mama of Tanzania’s late President John Pombe Magufuli, has passed away and will be laid to rest today in Chato District.She died Monday evening at her home after facing long-term illness.

The news was shared by her son Gorodian Magufuli, who also explained that she had been treated at Muhimbili National Hospital and Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute over the years due to serious health complications that started in 2018.The requiem mass will be held at St.Yohane Maria Muzeyi Parish in Mlimani, Chato, under the Catholic Diocese of Rulenge-Ngara.Afterwards, her body will be taken to the family cemetery for burial.

The government has coordinated closely with the Magufuli family, following instructions from President Samia Suluhu Hassan, to support and ensure smooth funeral arrangements.Regional and local CCM leaders have suspended campaign activities and pledged full support during this mourning period.The passing of Suzana comes nearly four years after her son, the former President, passed away in 2021.The funeral and mourning period highlight the continued respect and importance of the Magufuli family in Tanzania’s political and social landscape.
