TANESCO has announced a six-day scheduled power interruption affecting Morogoro and Tanga regions from July 9 to 14, 2026.The outages are part of upgrading the 400kV Chalinze–Dodoma Power Transmission Line Project to strengthen Tanzania’s electricity grid.During this period, areas like Mkulazi Sugar Factory, Mvomero District, and Kilosa District will face disruptions.The maintenance involves stringing high-voltage conductors on existing transmission lines, ensuring worker safety and grid reliability.

Affected communities include villages in Dakawa, Mvomero, Kinda, Maskati, Hembeti, Mkindo, Sungaji, Mhonda, Kweuma, Diongoya, Mtibwa, Kanga, Mziha, Pemba, Dumila, Kitete, Ukaguru, Mfuru, Madudu, Mabana, Mateteni, Mbigiri, and Magole Division.

TANESCO urges residents to prepare for the outages, as this infrastructure project aims to reduce transmission losses and support Tanzania’s economic growth.The initiative highlights efforts to modernize energy systems and ensure stable power supply for both urban and rural areas.
