Tanzania’s latest economic and infrastructure update highlights strong performance across key sectors including mining, public enterprises, investment inflows, and capital markets, alongside a major infrastructure financing plan for FY 2026/27.Mining revenues reached TZS 1.39 trillion in 2025/26, surpassing targets by 16%, showing improved collection and sector output.State-owned companies also recorded a strong financial year, with dividends rising 30% to TZS 1.327 trillion, led by Twiga Minerals contributing TZS 221.9 billion.In the investment space, Tanzania attracted USD 3.

16 billion in the fourth quarter of 2025, supported by the opening of four Special Economic Zones and two Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects, signalling increased investor confidence.The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange also posted a significant performance in week 26 of 2026, with equity turnover surging by 277.74% to TZS 185.07 billion, driven by strong stock performance such as KCB which rose by 12.79%.In parallel, the Ministry of Works has tabled a development budget of TZS 2,467.

3 billion (about USD 949 million) for the 2026/27 fiscal year, focusing on roads, bridges, airports, ferries, government buildings, and urban infrastructure.

About 37% of this budget is expected from external financiers, while the government is also promoting PPPs and infrastructure bonds to attract private capital.

Major road corridors, urban congestion programmes in Dar es Salaam, airport upgrades, ferry improvements, and government housing projects are included in the plan.

The budget aligns with Tanzania’s Vision 2050 strategy, aiming to strengthen infrastructure connectivity and private sector participation in national development.
