Tanzania and Russia have signed a tourism cooperation agreement and launched direct flights between the two nations to tap into Russia's outbound tourism market.

The initiative, led by Minister Dr Ashatu Kijaji, aims to enhance accessibility to Tanzania's attractions like wildlife safaris, Zanzibar, and Mount Kilimanjaro for Russian travelers.This marks a strategic move to diversify Tanzania's tourism sources beyond traditional Western markets.The direct Moscow flights eliminate previous transit barriers, positioning Tanzania competitively against other African safari destinations.Officials expect increased Russian tourist arrivals, boosting foreign exchange and employment in hospitality sectors.

The collaboration also opens opportunities for trade and investment between the two countries, reflecting broader trends in global tourism and economic partnerships.
