The Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism in Tanzania has introduced special discounted tourism packages at the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), also known as Sabasaba.

The initiative is aimed at promoting both domestic and international tourism by making travel to various attractions across the country more affordable and accessible to the public.

The promotional campaign was officially showcased at the ministry’s pavilion during the ongoing trade fair, which began on June 28, 2026, in Dar es Salaam along Kilwa Road.

According to Ernest Mwamwaja, who chairs the ministry’s 2026 Sabasaba Special Committee and also serves as Marketing Director of the Tanzania Tourist Board, the packages have been designed to cater for different types of visitors, destinations, and budgets. He explained that pricing has been set below normal market rates to encourage more people to explore Tanzania’s tourism sites.

Interested visitors at the fair can directly access detailed information about destinations, offers, and booking procedures at the ministry’s stand, where staff provide personalised guidance.

The ministry stated that this initiative is part of its broader strategy to strengthen the tourism sector by engaging directly with the public in high-traffic events such as the DITF.

It also reflects efforts to ensure that ordinary Tanzanians and international guests can benefit from the country’s rich natural and cultural attractions. The timing of the campaign aligns with ongoing national efforts to boost tourism as a key contributor to the economy.

The trade fair, organised by TANTRADE, is expected to run until July 13, 2026, giving the ministry an extended opportunity to promote Tanzania as a top travel destination.
