Tanzania is expecting to strengthen its tourism and film promotion efforts after officials from the Tanzania Film Board completed an international training programme in China focused on film production, digital content and modern technology.

The training aimed at helping participants learn innovative ways of promoting tourism destinations and cultural heritage through creative industries and digital platforms.

Speaking during the closing ceremony in Beijing, Executive Secretary of the Tanzania Film Board, Dr Gervas Kasiga, said the programme has provided valuable skills that Tanzania can use to market its tourist attractions to international audiences.

He explained that films and digital storytelling have become important tools for attracting tourists and promoting national identity across the world.

Dr Kasiga mentioned several key attractions that Tanzania plans to continue showcasing through film productions and digital campaigns, including Mount Kilimanjaro, Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Zanzibar and Kiswahili culture.According to him, these attractions have strong global appeal and can help increase tourism revenues if promoted effectively through modern media.

He also noted that the training will help expand cooperation between Tanzania and other countries in the film sector while creating more opportunities for young people in creative industries, especially in digital innovation and content production.

In addition, Dr Kasiga thanked President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Chinese President Xi Jinping for strengthening relations between Tanzania and China, saying the partnership continues to support skills development, cultural exchange and professional cooperation. The programme reflects Tanzania’s broader efforts to use creative arts and technology to support tourism growth and youth employment.
