Tanzania invests heavily in Kishapu Solar Project to boost renewable energy

Tanzania has signed a 204.7 billion shilling contract for the second phase of the Kishapu Solar Power Project, aiming to enhance renewable energy production.The project will add 100 megawatts of clean electricity to the national grid, making it one of East Africa's largest solar investments.

Developed by TANESCO and a consortium including Sagemcom Energy & Telecom SAS and STEG International Services, the facility in Ngunga, Shinyanga Region, supports Tanzania's goal to diversify its energy mix and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.The total investment across both phases reaches 323 billion shillings, expected to improve grid stability, create jobs, and lower carbon emissions.This initiative aligns with national efforts to meet rising electricity demand sustainably while promoting environmental responsibility.
