Registrar reviews hate speech allegations involving CCM and Chadema as legal assessment continues
Political party leaders in Tanzania have shown readiness to support structured dialogue between the government and key social groups in efforts aimed at strengthening peace, cooperation, social stability and national unity.
The engagement took place in Morogoro through a meeting involving the Prime Minister’s Office responsible for Labour, Employment and Relations and members of the Leadership Committee of the Council of Political Parties.
The session was used to explain the mandate of the Department of Relations and how it works in improving government engagement with different stakeholders including political parties, civil society organisations and local communities.
Speaking during the meeting, Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, Ms Zuhura Yunus, said the initiative is part of ongoing government efforts to build stronger relations through continuous dialogue, cooperation and mutual understanding.
She emphasised that political parties remain key partners in strengthening trust and communication between citizens and public institutions due to their wide reach across the country.
The Registrar of Political Parties, retired Judge Francis Mutungi, also highlighted the importance of political parties in maintaining peace and stability in the nation.
He explained that strong relations between government and political actors create space for cooperation, which in turn helps to identify practical solutions to national challenges.
He further stressed that political leaders have a responsibility to promote unity, tolerance and responsible public engagement to safeguard Tanzania’s long-standing peace.
Additionally, CHAUMMA Secretary General Salum Mwalimu noted that closer collaboration between government and political stakeholders is essential for effective implementation of national development priorities, including the National Development Vision 2050.He welcomed the dialogue initiative, saying it will improve coordination and strengthen trust among key actors.
Overall, the engagement is expected to enhance communication, build confidence between institutions and political actors, and support a more cooperative environment for addressing development issues in the country.
