Tanzania is actively preparing to maximise the economic benefits expected from co-hosting the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).The country sees the tournament as a major platform for boosting tourism, expanding business opportunities, and attracting foreign investment.

Private sector players are already stepping in with initiatives aimed at helping citizens and entrepreneurs benefit from the expected influx of visitors.

One such initiative is the launch of “T9 Magazine Opportunity Plus” by T9 Company, a local enterprise focused on educating Tanzanians about investment and business prospects linked to the tournament.The magazine was launched in Dar es Salaam, where T9 CEO Othman Razak emphasised that AFCON is more than just a football competition.

He described it as a transformative economic opportunity that can improve livelihoods through sectors such as hospitality, transport, food services, tourism, and small-scale businesses.

According to him, thousands of visitors including fans, media, sponsors, and officials will arrive in Tanzania, creating strong demand across multiple industries.

The initiative also aligns with the government’s broader development agenda under President Samia Suluhu Hassan, which aims to improve citizens’ economic well-being.

T9 Company plans to serve as a bridge between entrepreneurs and stakeholders, encouraging partnerships and continuous sharing of business opportunities through both print and online platforms.Tanzania has already invested in infrastructure and transport improvements to handle the expected surge in visitors.These developments are expected to leave a long-term positive impact beyond the tournament itself.
