Tanzania has launched a comprehensive strategy to improve neuro-oncology services amid rising cases of brain and spinal cord cancers.The five-point plan focuses on expanding medical training for specialists in neurology, neurosurgery, radiology, and oncology; upgrading healthcare infrastructure with advanced diagnostic tools and treatment facilities; promoting digital health systems like electronic medical records and cancer registries; strengthening research capabilities; and fostering public-private partnerships to enhance access to specialized care.The initiative aims to reduce reliance on foreign expertise and costly treatments abroad, aligning with Universal Health Coverage goals.Vice-President Dr.Emmanuel Nchimbi emphasized the importance of building a skilled workforce and modernizing hospitals to ensure better patient outcomes.Financial mechanisms will also be developed to make specialized services more affordable.

This effort reflects Tanzania's commitment to addressing neuro-oncological challenges through collaborative efforts between government, private sectors, and international partners.
