Vice President Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi has called on organizers of the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) to transform the event into a strategic platform for advancing Tanzania's Vision 2050 development goals.

Speaking at the trade fair's 50th anniversary gala, Nchimbi emphasized that the exhibition should focus on driving trade, industrialization, and investment rather than just showcasing products.He highlighted the fair's role in connecting producers, investors, and traders with local and international markets.

Nchimbi noted that Vision 2050, which took effect on July 1, requires a competitive private sector, increased investment, and stronger public-private partnerships.

The government remains committed to improving the business environment, but sustained growth depends on private sector participation, product quality, and regional market engagement.Financial institutions were urged to provide affordable financing for SMEs to support job creation and economic growth.Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) reported that the fair has generated over Sh129.31 trillion in trade and investment opportunities since its inception.
