A Tanzanian man has fled after allegedly tricking his stepchildren into giving him Sh300,000 following the murder of his partner, Leah Mazengo.The body of the 48-year-old woman was found on her farm in Lamaiti Village, Dodoma Region, with police confirming the murder investigation.

According to village chairman Paul Mkonongo, the incident occurred when the husband, known as Johnson, asked his father-in-law for a bicycle and later sent a text message using his wife's phone to request the children's stepfather to provide money.After receiving the funds, he returned the bicycle, packed his belongings, and fled to Bahi town.The children, unable to contact their mother, reported the situation to the village, leading to the discovery of the body and police involvement.The couple was living as cohabitants since Leah's lawful husband had died, leaving her with four children.The case highlights issues of domestic violence, financial exploitation, and the legal system's response to such crimes.Authorities are proceeding with burial arrangements while investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder.
