Supreme Court rejects immediate intervention in Congress leader’s Rajya Sabha nomination dispute, directs election petition route
A 33-year-old Dalit man, identified as Rajkumar alias Chhannu, was allegedly beaten to death by three of his coworkers in Uttar Pradesh’s Lalitpur district.According to the police, the incident took place on Saturday during a gathering at the Civil Lines residence of one of the accused, Samyak Rajnayak.Two other coworkers, Gajendra Narwaria and Gaurav Raikwar, were also present at the gathering.Police officials stated that the three accused were allegedly under the influence of alcohol when they asked Rajkumar to massage their feet.When he refused, an argument reportedly followed.Investigators allege that the accused then assaulted him with a belt and an iron rod, causing fatal injuries.The police said Rajkumar died at the scene as a result of the attack.
According to the investigation, the accused later attempted to conceal the crime by placing the victim’s body on a road and making it appear as though he had died in a traffic accident.On Sunday morning, local police received information about an unconscious man lying on a road behind Varni Jain College near Gurunanak Dharamshala.He was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.Following the discovery of the body, police conducted an investigation and arrested all three accused.Authorities stated that the men have allegedly confessed to their involvement in the crime.Based on a complaint filed by Rajkumar’s mother, a murder case has been registered.The case also includes relevant provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.The victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further legal proceedings are underway.
