Three former ministers under President Bola Tinubu administration don lose their APC primary elections after dem resign from cabinet to pursue elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.The affected former ministers na Adebayo Adelabu, Saidu Alkali and Yusuf Tuggar.

Dem stepped down from their ministerial appointments after President Tinubu directed all political appointees wey wan contest elections to resign before participating in party primaries, in line with the Electoral Act 2026.Former Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu contested for the APC governorship ticket for Oyo State but lost heavily to Senator Sarafadeen Alli.According to the results, Alli scored 578,143 votes while Adelabu got 19,193 votes.After the election, Adelabu rejected the outcome, alleging intimidation, manipulation and widespread irregularities during the exercise.Him say him team go submit petition to the national leadership of the party.Former Transport Minister Saidu Alkali also failed to secure the APC governorship ticket in Gombe State.Alkali earlier boycotted the primary process, claiming the exercise no fair and lacked credibility.Despite the boycott, the results showed say Jamilu Gwamna, who reportedly enjoys support from Governor Inuwa Yahaya, won with 247,161 votes.Alkali scored 11,612 votes while former Communications Minister Isa Pantami polled 12,120 votes.For Bauchi State, former Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar lost the APC governorship ticket to former Governor Mohammed Abubakar.Abubakar secured 57,517 votes while Tuggar came second with 26,001 votes.Out of the five former ministers wey resigned to contest, only Nkeiruka Onyejeocha and Yusuf Sununu successfully secured their party tickets.
