In Nababeep, Northern Cape, three men were arrested by the South African Police Service (SAPS) after officers discovered suspected stolen copper cables valued at over R10,000 during a property search.The arrests occurred as SAPS continues efforts to combat infrastructure theft, which has severe consequences for communities and essential services.

Namakwa district commissioner Brig Schalk Andrews emphasized that stealing critical infrastructure like copper cables disrupts service delivery, causes economic losses, and endangers public safety.The recovered cables were estimated at R10,197, and Andrews condemned such acts as serious crimes that require decisive legal action.
