President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of three Oyo State indigenes to the Surveyors Council of Nigeria.The new appointees include Moshood Akinwande as President and Olusoji Adeoye, Olaribigbe Shiyanbola as members representing Oyo State.The appointments were confirmed via an official letter signed by Ibrahim Abubakar, Permanent Secretary, General Services Office.The council members will be inaugurated on July 21, 2026, at the SGF’s Hall in Abuja.Akinwande, a retired director from the Surveyor-General’s Office, is from Oyo town.

Adeoye is the current Surveyor-General of Oyo State, while Shiyanbola, from Ipapo in Itesiwaju LGA, is a former state chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors.

The council members represent diverse groups including institutions offering surveying courses, the military, and the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors.This move underscores Tinubu’s commitment to regional representation and professional development in the surveying sector.The appointments highlight the importance of indigenous representation in national governance and technical bodies.The new council will play a key role in shaping policies and standards for surveying in Nigeria.
