Tinubu says economic reforms are stabilising Nigeria and attracting investor confidence

President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his defence of the economic reforms introduced by his administration, insisting that the policies are beginning to produce measurable positive outcomes for Nigeria.

Speaking at the maiden State House Media Dinner in Abuja, the President acknowledged that the reforms have been tough and sometimes unpopular, but maintained that they were necessary steps to reposition the economy for long-term growth.According to Tinubu, key economic indicators are now moving in the right direction.

He stated that public revenues have increased significantly, allowing state governments to receive higher allocations to support development projects across the country.

He also claimed that investor confidence is gradually returning, with renewed interest in Nigeria’s business environment from both local and foreign investors.

The President further highlighted improvements in foreign reserves, as well as renewed activity in the oil and gas sector, which he said is attracting fresh investment. He also pointed to noticeable growth in the stock market, describing it as a sign of improving economic stability.

Tinubu added that ongoing tax reforms, fiscal adjustments, infrastructure development, and broader business environment improvements are laying a stronger foundation for a more competitive and productive economy.

While admitting that the economic journey is not yet complete, he insisted that the direction of reforms is clear and focused on sustainable prosperity.

On security, the President also referenced intensified military operations, improved intelligence sharing, and stronger inter-agency cooperation, claiming these efforts have led to the neutralisation of criminal elements and rescue of hostages in some areas.

He also urged the media to report responsibly, stressing the importance of accuracy in national discourse, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to press freedom and democratic accountability.
