Two young brothers, Muhammad Salisu (12) and Abdurrahman Salisu (7), were tragically swept away by floodwaters in Janbago, Katsina State, while returning home from school.The incident occurred during torrential rains accompanied by strong winds that turned roads into streams.

Residents reported the children disappeared quickly after being caught in the rising water, and their bodies were later recovered from different locations.The tragedy has left the community grieving, with parents expressing deep sorrow over the loss.

The father, Malam Salisu Arabi, described it as the most painful experience of his life, urging the government to address drainage issues to prevent future disasters.

Community leaders highlighted years of poor drainage and erosion as root causes, noting repeated appeals to authorities for proper infrastructure have gone unanswered.They emphasized that floodwaters from various parts of Katsina flow into Janbago during heavy rains, causing severe damage and endangering lives.

The incident has intensified calls for urgent action to implement drainage systems and erosion control measures, with residents fearing more tragedies unless immediate solutions are provided.
