A fatal collision between a tricycle and an SUV occurred on the General Santos City-Digos Highway in Sarangani province, resulting in three immediate deaths and three critical injuries.

The incident, which happened on July 4, involved a blue tricycle carrying five passengers and its driver colliding head-on with a white Toyota Rush from Digos City.Three passengers of the tricycle—Joel Panaligan Jr., Gene Paul Bagay, and Joel Mezane—were hospitalized in critical condition.

The driver of the tricycle, Johnrey Coralles, along with passengers Celvic Calaque and Ian Corrales, were pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.Local officials and police chief Lt.Col.Jovenson Bayona confirmed the collision occurred in Barangay Nagpan, Malungon.

The Toyota Rush driver surrendered to authorities, and emergency responders from the Malungon municipal government transported the injured to the hospital.

The accident highlights ongoing road safety concerns in the region, with authorities urging stricter enforcement of traffic regulations to prevent similar incidents.
