Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully rescued 48 kidnapped civilians after repelling a bandit attack in Magami village, Zamfara State.

The operation began with a distress call from Sector 2 troops, who reported that armed terrorists on 40 motorcycles had stormed the community and abducted residents.The attackers rounded up victims and prepared to move them into the bush, while others stayed on the outskirts.Troops arrived swiftly, engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle, and forced the attackers to abandon the victims, who were then rescued.One civilian was killed during the attack, and two others sustained gunshot injuries, requiring hospitalization.Post-rescue, troops conducted aggressive patrols to prevent further attacks and ensure security.The Theatre Command praised the troops' gallantry and urged residents to provide timely information to security agencies.The incident highlights ongoing security challenges in the region and the critical role of military operations in protecting civilians.
