Iran-US tensions deepen as nuclear talks face new setbacks under tougher U.S. proposal
During the US 250th Independence Day celebrations held in Delhi, a virtual interaction featured former US President Donald Trump, who joined via phone call and expressed warm remarks about India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The call was facilitated by US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor, who connected Trump with the event, while US Secretary of State Marco Rubio was also present during the interaction.
Trump stated that India could rely on him for support and highlighted strong bilateral relations, mentioning the United States’ economic performance and expressing admiration for PM Modi.He also conveyed a message of goodwill, asking that greetings be passed on to the Indian Prime Minister and reaffirming his positive view of India.Separately, Marco Rubio also made remarks during his visit to India, where he praised External Affairs Minister S.Jaishankar, describing him as highly capable and respected.
Rubio emphasised the strategic nature of the India–US relationship, stating that both countries share aligned interests and collaborate across multiple domains including security, technology, and counterterrorism.He highlighted that both democracies have faced challenges from global terrorist networks and continue to work closely on counterterrorism efforts.
Rubio further noted the importance of shared democratic values and increasing cooperation in emerging technologies, stressing that the partnership between India and the United States has grown into one of the most significant strategic alliances globally.
The event underscored strengthening diplomatic engagement and expanding cooperation between the two nations across key geopolitical and economic areas.
