Two married couples from Honduras have died after attempting to rescue a distressed swimmer in the Scioto River near Columbus, Ohio.The incident occurred on Sunday when a group of five adults and two children went on a fishing trip.One adult began struggling in the water, prompting others to enter the river to assist.However, the fast-flowing river swept them under, resulting in their deaths.

Officials confirmed the identities of the victims: Miguel Ángel Guerra and Carmen Idalia Lara Ferrera (both 33), and José Mario Pineda (33) and Marina Suyapa Regalado Miranda (29).The two children, believed to be related to Pineda and Miranda, are in the care of Ohio authorities and will be reunited with family in Honduras.Emergency calls reported a child in distress near the riverbank, leading to the discovery of bodies over two days.Authorities warned about the dangers of fast-moving water, emphasizing that even seemingly calm rivers can be deadly.This tragedy follows another water-related incident in Utah where a family was killed by a flash flood.
