Parents from Uasin Gishu county, who paid millions for an overseas education programme that failed to deliver, staged a peaceful protest in Eldoret.The parents, accompanied by their children, demanded refunds after the Nakuru court acquitted officials linked to the scheme.Over KSh 1.1 billion was allegedly lost, with families like Joakim Rotich and Brian Kimutai losing their investments.Rotich’s child, meant to study in Canada, remains in Kenya without refund.Kimutai, who paid KSh 1.2 million, criticized leaders for misusing funds and leaving families in financial ruin.The protest highlighted frustration with judicial outcomes and calls for accountability.Parents urged local leaders, including Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, to intervene.They were denied access to the governor’s office but marched to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).EACC advised seeking higher court redress.Over 300 families are affected, with children never traveling abroad as promised.The county government is exploring alternative dispute resolution to address the crisis.
