Vicoty Cheruto, a young woman from Uasin Gishu County, finally returned home after a long period of worry and uncertainty for her family.She had gone to Beirut, Lebanon, in November 2023 to work as a domestic worker.Her one-year-and-four-month contract ended in 2025, but instead of returning home, she was reportedly prevented from leaving by her employer.Her family lost contact with her in May 2025, causing serious concern.After months of searching and prayers, Vicoty was eventually found and reunited with her loved ones.It was revealed that she had been detained in Lebanon during the period she was missing.Her sister, Winnie Jerop, expressed immense relief and gratitude to everyone who helped secure Vicoty's release.Vicoty herself thanked her family and supporters, acknowledging the hardships she faced but expressing happiness to be back home.The emotional reunion at the airport included flowers, hugs, and tears, highlighting the relief and joy of the family at seeing her safe once more.The story underscores the challenges faced by Kenyans working abroad and the importance of community support in such situations.
