Dar es Salaam Trade Fair Marks 50 Years of Economic Growth in Tanzania
Uganda has intensified efforts to strengthen trade and investment ties with Tanzania, as businesses from the neighboring country seek new commercial opportunities in one of East Africa's fastest-growing markets.
At the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), Uganda High Commission Liaison, Research, Trade and Investment Officer, Ms Digna Makobore, highlighted the country's focus on showcasing Ugandan products, attracting Tanzanian investors, and forging stronger business partnerships.
She emphasized the exhibition's role in generating interest from Tanzanian businesses and consumers, underscoring growing demand for cross-border trade within the East African Community (EAC).
Makobore urged regional governments to implement policies that promote investment and facilitate intra-African trade, stressing Uganda's readiness to collaborate with Tanzania to expand trade and investment for mutual benefit.
Roofings Group Customer Care Manager, Mr Henry Kigozi, praised Tanzania's open market and commitment to regional integration, noting the country's conducive business environment that supports regional and international trade.
The event also showcased Tanzania's efforts to attract energy investment and boost its tourism sector, reflecting the region's dynamic economic landscape.
