Tanzania's tourism industry is set for a major boost following the launch of Air Tanzania Company Limited's (ATCL) direct flights between Dar es Salaam and Moscow.

The new route, secured through President Samia Suluhu Hassan's recent diplomatic mission to Russia, aims to increase tourist arrivals while strengthening trade and investment between the two countries.

The direct service fulfils President Samia's announcement during her visit to Russia, where she unveiled the new route at the Tanzania-Russia Business Forum in St Petersburg.The flights ease movement for tourists, investors, and cargo while expanding commercial exchanges.ATCL's inaugural flight carried over 240 passengers, reflecting strong demand.

Officials highlighted the economic benefits, including increased tourism revenue, foreign exchange earnings, and opportunities for exporting high-value products like horticultural goods and seafood to Russia.Experts noted improved air connectivity will reduce travel costs and boost Tanzania's appeal as a regional tourism hub.

The initiative underscores President Samia's diplomatic efforts to enhance bilateral relations and support Tanzania's National Development Vision 2050.
