Tanzania's 50th Dar es Salaam Trade Fair Aims for Global Hub Status by 2050

The 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) 2026 officially opened on July 3, 2026, with President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Mozambique’s President Daniel Chapo inaugurating the event.The fair, held at the Julius Nyerere Trade Fair Grounds, aims to generate TZS 17 billion in direct sales and create 26,000 jobs.It marks the Golden Jubilee of the annual event, which has grown from 100 exhibitors in the 1980s to over 3,500 companies today.

The government’s long-term vision is to transform DITF into a global innovation and trade hub by 2050, emphasizing industrial transformation, technological innovation, and cross-border trade facilitation.Exports reached USD 18.6 billion in 2026, driven by gold, agriculture, and regional trade.The fair also highlights Tanzania’s efforts to attract international investors, with participation from China, Oman, and Indonesia.

The event underscores the country’s ambition to position itself as a continental trade and investment hub, supported by infrastructure development and digital connectivity initiatives.
