Putin threatens retaliation after deadly strike on Luhansk student dormitory
Overnight, a Ukrainian drone strike in the Moscow region resulted in the deaths of at least three people and injured a dozen others, according to Russian authorities.
The attack occurred in the aftermath of a Russian missile strike on a residential building in Kyiv last Friday, which killed 24 civilians, including three children.Moscow authorities reported that more than 120 drones were intercepted over the city, with three houses sustaining damage.In total, 556 drones were reportedly downed across Russia during the night.Among the casualties, a woman died in Khimki, north of Moscow, while two men were killed in the village of Pogorelki in the Mytishchi district.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had warned of retaliatory measures, indicating that Russia's plans included targeting multiple decision-making centres within Ukraine.The escalating drone and missile attacks between Russia and Ukraine have drawn attention from international partners.
France has expressed readiness to assist Ukraine in developing a ballistic missile defence system, signalling a step towards an 'anti-ballistic coalition.' Additionally, Ukrainian officials accused Belarus of facilitating Russian drone flights, challenging claims of neutrality.The conflict continues to intensify, with both sides exchanging aerial assaults, raising concerns for civilian safety and regional stability.
