Pakistan PM Shehbaz Visits Türkiye for Bilateral Talks and Regional Security Discussions
The US State Department has expressed support for Pakistan's right to defend itself against terrorist attacks following coordinated military operations by Pakistani security forces targeting militant hideouts along the Afghanistan border.
The operations, conducted under Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, resulted in the deaths of 29 militants, including high-value commander Khan Farosh, and the destruction of multiple terrorist camps in regions like Paktia and Kunar.
The federal government confirmed the military actions were a response to recent terrorist incidents within Pakistan, including attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and a Pakistan Rangers camp in Karachi.Additionally, the military downed four drones launched by the Afghan Taliban along the Balochistan border.
The US statement emphasized the suffering of Pakistani civilians at the hands of terrorists, aligning with Islamabad's efforts to combat extremism.
This development comes amid improved US-Pakistan relations since Donald Trump's return to the presidency, with Pakistan also playing a mediating role in regional conflicts.
The operations highlight ongoing tensions with the Afghan Taliban, which Pakistan has accused of harboring militant groups responsible for attacks within its borders.
