US Secretary Marco Rubio and NSA Ajit Doval hold talks on strengthening India-US defence and technology partnership

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who also serves as the US National Security Advisor, met India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval in New Delhi on Sunday for high-level discussions aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation.

The talks focused on strengthening collaboration in defence, security, and strategic technologies, including initiatives under the TRUST framework, which builds on the earlier Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET).

Both sides reaffirmed the importance of the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership and reviewed ongoing cooperation across multiple strategic domains.

According to statements shared by the Ministry of External Affairs, the discussions also covered regional and global developments of mutual interest, reflecting the shared commitment of both nations to international peace, stability, and security.

Key areas of engagement included counterterrorism cooperation, enhanced strategic coordination in the Indo-Pacific region, and resilience in global supply chains.The TRUST initiative—Transforming the Relationship Utilizing Strategic Technology—was highlighted as a major pillar of future collaboration.

It aims to expand cooperation in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, biotechnology, energy, critical minerals, space technology, and secure supply chains.

A significant component of the initiative is the AI Infrastructure Roadmap, designed to facilitate investment, technology exchange, and adoption of advanced AI systems.Prior to meeting NSA Doval, Rubio also held discussions with External Affairs Minister S.

Jaishankar, where both sides reviewed broader aspects of bilateral relations including trade, energy, defence, nuclear cooperation, and people-to-people ties.

Rubio is also scheduled to participate in the upcoming Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi, bringing together India, the United States, Australia, and Japan to discuss Indo-Pacific security and global strategic challenges.
