Calgary Stampeders quarterback Vernon Adams Jr.delivered a standout performance on Thursday night, guiding his team to a 58–36 victory over the Toronto Argonauts in a high-scoring CFL matchup at McMahon Stadium.
Adams tied a franchise record by throwing six touchdown passes and added another score on the ground, completing 80 per cent of his passes for 405 yards without throwing an interception.
His performance placed him alongside Stampeders legends Peter Liske, Doug Flutie, Jeff Garcia, and head coach Dave Dickenson as the only players in franchise history to reach six touchdown passes in a single game.
Despite Adams’ focus on team success rather than personal records, Calgary’s offence was dominant throughout, with multiple receivers contributing touchdown catches, including Jalen Philpot and Dejon Brissett.
The game, part of the annual “Stampede Bowl” celebration, featured explosive offensive play from both sides, including 25 combined points in the final two minutes of the first half.Calgary improved to 2–2 on the season, while Toronto also sits at 2–2 after the loss.
Defensively, Calgary benefited from key turnovers, including two interceptions by defensive back Zy Alexander, both of which led directly to touchdowns.
