The 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) is set to kick off in Morocco on July 16, 2026, with 16 teams competing for a total prize pool of R32m.This marks a 100% increase from previous editions, announced by Confederation of African Football president Patrice Motsepe.

The tournament will be hosted across two cities, Rabat and Casablanca, with key venues including Moulay al Hassan Stadium, Al Madina Stadium, and Larbi Zaouli Stadium.

Participating nations include Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa, Egypt, Algeria, Senegal, Kenya, Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Zambia, Malawi, Ghana, Cape Verde, Cameroon, and Mali.

Notably, Malawi and Cape Verde are making their debuts, while Nigeria, the most successful nation in Wafcon history with 10 titles, are the reigning champions.The final will be played on August 16, with the winners securing a share of the R32m prize money.The tournament promises to be a significant event in African women’s football, showcasing talent from across the continent.
