The World Karate Federation (WKF) has confirmed that Karate South Africa (KSA) remains a full member of the global body despite the suspension of its national executive led by long-serving president Sonny Pillay.Interim president Sean Ahmed now oversees operations, with disciplinary proceedings targeting individual members of the suspended executive.The WKF clarified that KSA's membership status is unaffected, allowing athletes to retain international eligibility.

This decision follows a meeting between the WKF and SA Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc), where KSA's recognition as a 'national federation in good standing' was reaffirmed.The interim board, led by Ahmed, is tasked with organizing national championships and ensuring athlete participation in international competitions.Pillay's suspended executive challenges the suspension, claiming no grounds were provided for the disciplinary action.Legal proceedings may see the matter escalated to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
