A landmark political reconciliation agreement between Tanzania’s ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) and opposition party ACT Wazalendo in Zanzibar has been hailed as a turning point for the semi-autonomous archipelago.

Leaders emphasized that the accord prioritizes dialogue and national unity over partisan division, ending a prolonged political standoff that threatened stability and economic progress.

President Samia Suluhu Hassan called it a demonstration of political maturity, stressing that peace in Zanzibar directly contributes to national stability.

The agreement aims to enhance investor confidence by providing political certainty for long-term business planning, crucial for sectors like tourism, trade, and fisheries.

Zanzibar’s leaders also highlighted the need for continued dialogue to form a Government of National Unity, reinforcing trust between leaders and citizens.This development complements Tanzania’s broader efforts to maintain peace while pursuing development priorities like Vision 2050.
