Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called for renewed diplomatic efforts with Russia, arguing that the coming months before winter present a critical window for negotiations.

He claims that Russia is gradually losing battlefield initiative while Ukraine has strengthened its strategic position through intensified operations and targeted strikes.

Zelensky emphasised that sustained military pressure on Moscow could improve conditions for meaningful talks, whether mediated by the United States, Europe, or through direct bilateral engagement.He also reiterated the need for stronger international sanctions against Russia to increase diplomatic leverage.The wider conflict continues to escalate across multiple fronts.Ukrainian forces reportedly struck Russia’s Saratov oil refinery and a pumping station in the Kirov region, causing significant fires.Meanwhile, Russian-appointed authorities in occupied Kherson claimed that a drone strike in Henichesk killed a child and injured 11 civilians.Both sides continue to report ongoing aerial and drone attacks.Zelensky has also warned that Russian drone activity near NATO borders is being used to test Western air defences and discourage support for Ukraine.

He further expressed concern that US production of anti-ballistic missiles is insufficient to meet global demand, urging expanded manufacturing capacity and greater cooperation, including potential licensing arrangements for Ukrainian production of Patriot systems.In parallel, discussions between Ukraine and the United States reportedly include potential agreements on drone technology testing and development.
