ANC Women’s League set to remove Sisisi Tolashe following Integrity Commission findings
The ANC Women’s League (ANCWL) is deliberating on its next steps following a report by the ANC Integrity Commission, which found its president, Sisisi Tolashe, guilty of misconduct in public office.
The league held a meeting in Boksburg to discuss the findings, with ANCWL secretary-general Nokuthula Nqaba stating that no final decision had been made yet regarding directives from the ANC.
Tolashe has indicated no intention to resign or step down, and the league has emphasised that it is respecting the Integrity Commission process rather than taking unilateral action against her as president.
Previously, Tolashe was removed from her role as Minister of Social Development following allegations that two luxury SUVs donated to the ANCWL by Chinese officials were registered in the names of her adult children. The ANC has instructed her to resign both as a Member of Parliament and as ANCWL president.
Nqaba confirmed that while the league accepts the Integrity Commission’s findings, they continue to regard Tolashe as a member of the organisation, highlighting the importance of individual conscience and organisational integrity.ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula added that the party would allow the league space to reach a conclusion on how to proceed.
