The water level in Angat Dam, a critical water source for Metro Manila, reached an all-time low of 150.91 meters as of July 24, 2026, according to records from the Bulacan disaster risk reduction and management office.This marks a 48-centimeter drop from the previous day’s level and is below the previously recorded lowest level in July 2010.The dam’s water level is now 9.08 meters below its critical threshold of 160 meters and 61.09 meters below the normal high-water level of 212 meters.Angat supplies 90% of Metro Manila’s potable water and irrigation for rice farms in Bulacan and Pampanga.

PAGASA warned that if the water level does not rise to 210 meters by year-end, a water crisis could occur in 2027, especially with the potential impact of a strong El Niño phenomenon.The dam first fell below its minimum operating level on May 11 and dipped past the critical level on July 4.Experts emphasize the urgency of addressing this issue to prevent shortages in the capital region.
