The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State is facing a major internal crisis as prominent party leaders, including former lawmakers and governorship aspirants, have publicly rejected alleged attempts to impose candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.They warned that the party could lose the state if its leadership fails to embrace consultation and internal democracy.

At a mass rally organized by the G-15 coalition in Ilorin, stakeholders called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the national APC leadership to intervene, emphasizing that the party's future in the state is under threat.

Former Kwara APC chairman Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa stated that no valid primary had taken place, and the process leading to a purported candidate did not meet legal requirements.

Senator Saliu Mustapha described the rally as a spontaneous expression of dissatisfaction over the handling of APC affairs, stressing that the protest was driven by concerns over fairness and inclusiveness rather than personal ambition.Former Senator Yahaya Oloriegbe highlighted the need for transparency in all elective positions, accusing current leaders of sidelining stakeholders.

The coalition urged the national leadership to address the crisis before it deepens, as failure to resolve internal conflicts could lead to serious electoral consequences for the ruling party.
