The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the composition of its National Campaign Council ahead of the 15 August 2026 governorship election in Osun State.The council is scheduled to be inaugurated in Abuja and will be led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as chairman.

Other top-ranking party leaders, including Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, will serve as co-chairmen.

Ibrahim Masari, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Political and Other Matters, was named deputy chairman, while Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin will serve as secretary.

According to the APC, several specialised committees have also been created to handle campaign planning, logistics, finance, media, security, grassroots mobilisation, women and youth engagement, disability inclusion and other campaign responsibilities.

The report also examines the political landscape ahead of the Osun governorship election, describing it as one of the most competitive contests in the South-west.

Besides the APC, the election is expected to feature strong challenges from incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party and Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), whose emergence has changed the state's traditional two-party political dynamics.

Adeleke is expected to benefit from incumbency, his grassroots popularity and the possibility of opposition votes being divided between the APC and ADC.

Meanwhile, APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji is relying on federal backing, established party structures and support from former Governor Gboyega Oyetola's political network.

However, internal divisions within the APC, especially the lingering rift involving Rauf Aregbesola and concerns about the party's grassroots appeal, remain significant challenges as the election draws closer.
