BC Lions defeat Winnipeg Blue Bombers 30–19 in CFL pre-season finale
The Toronto Argonauts opened their CFL preseason schedule with a 20–10 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in Hamilton, highlighted by a strong second-half performance and two rushing touchdowns from Sam Hicks.
Hicks carried the ball five times for 25 yards, scoring on a nine-yard run in the third quarter and adding a four-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter as Toronto outscored Hamilton 20–3 after halftime.Hamilton struck first in the game when Larry Rountree III broke free for a 46-yard touchdown run in the opening quarter.Rountree led all rushers with 86 yards on nine carries and the lone touchdown for the Tiger-Cats.However, Hamilton struggled with discipline, committing 11 penalties for 144 yards, which stalled several drives and shifted momentum toward Toronto.Argonauts quarterback Chad Kelly made his first appearance since suffering a leg injury in the 2024 East Division final.In limited action, he completed three of seven passes for 29 yards and added 24 rushing yards on two carries.For Hamilton, veteran Bo Levi Mitchell started at quarterback and completed all three of his passes for 50 yards.Jake Dolegala went five-for-14 for 61 yards with one interception, while Tre Ford added 14 passing yards and 17 rushing yards.The game remained competitive through the first half before Toronto’s defence and rushing attack took control late.The win sets up a rematch between the two teams in Guelph, Ontario, in their final preseason contest.Around the league, Edmonton also impressed with a 34–16 win over B.C., as multiple quarterbacks threw touchdown passes in a dominant offensive showing.
