Profile of late Tanimola linked to alleged phantom council appointment scandal
Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has demanded an immediate, transparent, and independent investigation into the PFIPC scandal, warning President Bola Tinubu that failure to act would imply complicity.
Speaking through his Senior Special Assistant, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku criticized the government's explanation for the controversy, which he claims has eroded public trust in institutional credibility.
He highlighted how the scandal involves allegations of fraud, with claims that a single individual allegedly created an office, secured government facilities, and operated institutional accounts without oversight.
Atiku questioned how such an operation could bypass budgetary, administrative, and security channels, suggesting systemic failures rather than individual misconduct.
He emphasized that public records show the PFIPC was allocated billions in the 2026 Appropriation Act, and recent reports of civil service recruitment into the agency have intensified the crisis.Atiku called for accountability, urging the government to address systemic lapses rather than blaming one person. He also criticized the Presidency for avoiding transparency, stating that only a full investigation could uncover the truth. The scandal has raised concerns about governance and the integrity of public institutions in Nigeria.
