A recording of the emergency call made by Jonathan Andic following the death of his father, Mango founder Isak Andic, has been broadcast by a Catalan radio station.
In the call, Jonathan can be heard crying and urgently requesting assistance after reporting that his father had fallen into a ravine while they were walking near the Montserrat mountain range, north-west of Barcelona, in December 2024.He repeatedly asks for help, explains that he can no longer see his father, and says that Isak is not responding.
The release of the audio comes amid an ongoing criminal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Isak Andic, one of Spain's wealthiest businessmen and the founder of the international fashion retailer Mango.Although the incident was initially treated as an accident, authorities later arrested Jonathan Andic on suspicion of homicide. He was subsequently released on bail while the investigation continues.
According to court documents cited in the article, the investigating judge considered several factors that justified treating the case as a possible criminal matter, including the father-son relationship, Jonathan's prior familiarity with the route taken that day, and forensic assessments regarding marks found at the scene.Jonathan and his legal team strongly deny any wrongdoing and maintain that Isak's death was a tragic accident.
The defence has argued that evidence has been misinterpreted and has pointed to Isak Andic's health issues, including a degenerative knee condition, as potentially relevant to the fatal fall.
Jonathan stepped down from his role as Mango's vice-president following his arrest and has stated publicly that the allegations against him are unjustified. The investigation remains ongoing, and no court has determined his guilt.
