Residents of Ankpechi community in Benue State fled their homes after armed bandits launched a sudden attack on Thursday morning.The attackers, identified as armed herdsmen, stormed the quiet community around 8 a.m., firing sporadically and causing panic.One person sustained gunshot injuries and was rushed to hospital, while shops and food stores were looted.A local resident, Adole, described how people scrambled for safety when the attack began.

The chairman of Ohimini Local Government Area, Gabriel Adole, confirmed the incident, stating the attackers came to collect food as they couldn't buy it themselves.He noted the community was targeted due to its proximity to other areas recently attacked.Security forces have been deployed to the area, and the injured person is in hospital.The Police Public Relations Officer has not yet confirmed the incident.
