Borno State Governor, Prof.Babagana Umara Zulum, has announced plans to close the Konduga Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp as part of efforts to restore normalcy and dignity to communities affected by over a decade of Boko Haram insurgency.

The resettlement process is entirely voluntary, with no forced relocation, as emphasized during a visit to the area where he inspected construction sites for new housing.Zulum highlighted that returning to ancestral homes or preferred locations must be based on the displaced persons' expressed willingness.The Amarwa and Maiwa resettlement projects include essential facilities like healthcare centers and water supply systems.The governor was accompanied by key officials, including lawmakers and local government representatives, during the inspection.This initiative follows successful closures of IDP camps in Bama and Gwoza, with a target to complete resettlement within four months.The move aims to provide displaced families with safe, permanent housing while ensuring their dignity and autonomy throughout the process.
