Boy Harsher's New Album ‘Get Mean’ Explores Themes of Heartbreak and Survival

Boy Harsher, the electronic duo, have announced their new album ‘Get Mean’, set for release on September 18 via Atlantic Records. The project, which follows their 2022 soundtrack for ‘The Runner’, delves into themes of grief, heartbreak, loss, and personal resilience.

The album features their recently released single ‘Jeans’ and the new single ‘Hard Beat’, which blends thumping synths with haunting vocals to explore surveillance, deviance, and trauma. The track’s music video, directed by the duo alongside cinematographer Owen Smith-Clark, adds to its visual intensity.

The creative process began in early 2024 after the members ended their romantic relationship, leading them to reflect on past turmoil and creative block. The album incorporates new sounds like detuned pads and pop inflections, marking a departure from their earlier synth-driven style. The 12-track release includes tracks such as ‘Ronny’, ‘Break Me’, and ‘Bleed’, with a North American headline tour planned for later this year.Additionally, the duo are working on a debut feature film, ‘The Lonely Woman’, starring Chloë Sevigny, FKA twigs, and Sturgill Simpson. The project underscores their evolution as artists while maintaining their signature introspective lyricism.
