CAF president Patrice Motsepe has confirmed he will not seek a third term in office, stating that no one will persuade him to extend his tenure beyond two terms.

During a media briefing in Sandton, Motsepe emphasized his commitment to serving only two terms, despite initial pressure to run again after his 2021 election.He also expressed strong support for FIFA president Gianni Infantino, who is seeking re-election for a fourth term in 2027.Motsepe highlighted Infantino's loyalty to Africa and his role in advancing continental football interests.

Under Motsepe's leadership, CAF has increased financial backing for member associations and prize money for tournaments like the Africa Cup of Nations and Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon).He recently announced a $2m prize boost for the 2026 Wafcon, a 100% increase from the 2024 edition.

Motsepe is focused on ensuring a successor who will outperform him, expressing confidence in Africa's football future even after his term ends in 2029.
