Consultant doctor booked under POCSO for alleged sexual assault of minor patient in Haryana hospital

A serious case has emerged from Kurukshetra, Haryana, where a consultant doctor at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) District Civil Hospital has been accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old patient.

According to officials, the minor had initially visited the hospital on May 29 along with her father, complaining of abdominal pain and a burning sensation during urination.She was admitted to the female ward for treatment.It is alleged that later in the day, the doctor took the girl to his OPD chamber, where he sexually assaulted her multiple times.The situation came to light when the girl began experiencing heavy bleeding and was shifted to the emergency ward around 8:30 pm the same evening.During treatment, she confided in senior doctors about the alleged assault.The hospital authorities promptly informed the police.

Based on a complaint filed by the girl’s father, an FIR has been registered under Sections 6 and 10 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.Deputy Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar confirmed the legal action.In response to the gravity of the allegations, the Haryana government has terminated the services of the accused doctor with immediate effect.

Sources indicate that the accused, a retired Principal Medical Officer currently serving as a consultant physician, has been absent from duty since shortly after the incident.The hospital administration has stated that it acted swiftly once the matter was reported.The case is currently under investigation, and further legal proceedings are expected as authorities gather more evidence.
