A Delhi court has upheld the four-year rigorous imprisonment awarded to Virender, a man found in possession of an illegal country-made pistol.The Additional Sessions Judge Saurabh Partap Singh dismissed his appeal against the October 2025 magisterial court order, emphasizing that police witnesses' credibility cannot be doubted merely because they belong to the law enforcement agency.The prosecution stated Virender was apprehended on June 17, 2019, near Jhareda village, with a single-shot pistol and two live cartridges recovered.The court highlighted that police testimony is reliable unless corroborated by independent evidence.

Virender claimed he was falsely implicated due to personal enmity and alleged discrepancies in the weapon's seal, but the court dismissed these claims as baseless.It noted the absence of independent witnesses and the lack of videography did not invalidate the recovery.The court also rejected his claim about his brother's custodial death, stating it was raised for the first time during the appeal.

The judge acknowledged Virender's criminal record, including narcotics, theft, robbery, and attempted murder charges, and found no reason to alter the original sentence.The court stressed that the appellant's 'demonstrated propensity towards repeated criminal conduct' justified the punishment.
