Tanzania to overhaul legal framework to support Vision 2050 development goals
A driver working for CHADEMA Vice Chairperson John Heche, identified as Suez Daniel Maradufu, has been found dead in a guest house room in Kigoma while on an official trip.
The incident happened on the morning of July 1, 2026, after colleagues became concerned when he failed to respond to phone calls or knocks on his door.Together with party officials, including Heche, they reported the matter to police, who later broke into the locked room.
According to both party officials and police reports, Maradufu was found lying face down near the entrance of the room, with blood seen pooled nearby.Police also confirmed that different types of medical pills were discovered at the scene. His body was taken to Maweni Regional Referral Hospital for further examination, while investigations into the cause of death are still ongoing.
Maradufu had travelled with CHADEMA leaders from Tabora to Kigoma following the sudden ban on political rallies, where the party had planned activities. He was expected to continue his duties on the day he was found dead. Those who had been with him earlier expressed shock, saying he did not show any signs of illness and appeared normal. This incident has raised fresh concerns, especially given Maradufu’s past.In 2019, he survived a machete attack by unknown people, and no arrests were made in that case. His death also comes shortly after another CHADEMA aide, David Djumbe, survived an abduction attempt under unclear circumstances.Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact cause of death, and the public is waiting for further updates from police investigations.
